Portraits of Vue de Monde pastry chef

Vue de Monde, commercial portrait photography by Image Workshop photographer Sharon Blance, Melbourne

I shot these editorial style portraits a wee while ago and they’ve been waiting to finally get up on the blog!

Environmental portrait photography of Elisha Kesici, who works as a Senior Pastry Chef at at one of Melbourne’s top restaurants – the unparalleled Vue de Monde. It was an absolute treat to photograph Elisha at work putting the final touches on one of the restaurant’s signature desserts: mousse lamingtons.

We had an hour on site early morning before the other staff arrived. The kitchen is open to the dining space, with beautiful marble counters so we had Elisha set up there. The restaurant space has floor-to-ceiling windows on two sides (with incroyable views from the 55th floor of Melbourne’s iconic Rialto Towers) so we made use of the natural light and added some extra kick and direction with a couple of Profoto B1’s and the small OCF beauty dish.

…and yes, we got to sample a lamington after shooting and yes, they were absolutely délicieux! Being a portrait photographer has its perks ;)

One Profoto B1 + OCF Beauty dish to add pop to the face, feathered off the counter to avoid glare. A bare B1 bouncing off the ceiling in the background to the left provides a nice subtle kick and keeps the shadows open.
